Godzilla Vs. The Smog Monster (Part of the "Godzilla 2 Movie Double Feature")

Region 0

Studio: Digital Disc

Country: Canada

Format: NTSC

Year: 2007

Chapters: 6

Time: 87 Minutes

Video: ** / *****

The print used is from the Orion VHS Release in 1989, so it's Full Frame. Since it's a VHS the quality isn't that great, but it's about avarge. The studio tweaked the film somewhat in the opening. On the VHS the opening of film was in Widescreen with blue bars at the bottom of the screen and they managed to pull it up and down vertically. There are no subtitles on the disc but there is a track actually, but this track is only as a black bar which is used to cover the AIP studio info at the bottom of the screen at the opening and the end of the film.

Audio: ** 1/2 / *****

The audio is from the VHS so again, it's avarage quality. It's English Dubbed from AIP. The main reason I got this disc was that it was the original version that I grew up with. The audio used is not the same audio that is used on the recent 2004 release of the film that is retitled as Godzilla Vs. Hedorah.

Bonus Material: 0 / *****
If you consider the piss poor quality of Godzilla Vs. Megalon as a bonus material then by all means enjoy it.

Overall: * 1/2 / *****
Well, if you own the Sony version which is retitled (as Godzilla Vs Hedorah) and is the Japanese cut with the international dubbing done in Hong Kong, you'd probably be better off with it's quality. If you don't own the Orion VHS since it's pretty rare to find and you get this then go for it.
