Video: ****½ / *****
EVS gave us a nice Japanese print for the Thai release. The presentation is 1.85:1 16x9 anamorphic widescreen. My only complaint is that it seems dull in some spots. The quality is a lot better than the SONY release that came out in 2000, plus this DVD contains the original Japanese audio (which the SONY DVD doesn’t have). Since it’s from the Japanese print, there is Japanese subs that appear on the screen which are burned in the picture, when there’s people speaking English. There’s also two switch able subtitle tracks, Thai and Japanese. Sorry, no English subtitles

Audio: ****½ / *****
EVS put three different audio tracks on the DVD. We have two 5.1 audio tracks and a DTS track on the DVD. The Thai 5.1 dubbing is crazy with a Thai V.O. yelling out Godzilla Vs Destoroyah in Thai on the opening graphic. However the Thai audio has an echo on the disc which is really noticeable on the end credits for the film. The Japanese 5.1 audio is nice, this audio track contains some English dialogue which is why there’s Japanese subs burned into the film. I cannot comment on the Thai 5.1 DTS track since my sound system isn’t compatible.

Special Features: **½ / *****
All we have is a making of which lasts 20 minutes. There was an error on EVS’s part because this making of is from a VHS source and is stretched into widescreen when clearly it is fullscreen. The making of has Akira Takarada and some woman walking around the Toho set with shots of the crew shooting the film. We also see Kenpachiro Satsuma getting in and out of the Godzilla suit with an air tank for breathing. The making of is in Japanese with no subtitles.

Overall: ***½ /*****
This DVD cost me $7.50 on eThaiCD.com and it was worth every penny it cost. EVS also released several other Godzilla movies along with Frankenstein Conquers the World, currently these DVDs are now out of print so if you can find them off several Thai sites, get them while you can.
