Audition.
Region 0
Studio: One World Entertainment
Country: Germany
Format: PAL
Year: 2001
Chapters: 15
Time: 110 Minutes
Video: **** / ***** What we are dealing with here is an anamorphic
widescreen version of the film. The picture is fine in all ways, as far as I can tell. There are the English and German subs
from which you can choose to watch the film with. The subtitle selection has the subs listed twice on the menu, as sort of
closed caption for those who don’t know whose speaking. The only real problem is the NTSC to PAL conversion, ghosting,
as it’s commonly called occurs in several spots that are noticeable.

Special Features: ***** /
*****
Special feature ahoi. We have “Coming
soon” trailers for “Dead or Alive”, “ Porno Star”, and “Electric Dragon”. Then
we have the German and Japanese trailer for the main feature. The picture on the Japanese trailer looks god awful and is subtitled
in English (non-removable). Then there is also some still galleries from shooting the film, stills from the film, and an assortment
of Takeshi Miike posters (Audition, Dead or Alive, etc.). Then finally is a bio on Takeshi Miike, this is written in German
and I do not completely understand the language.
Overall: **** ½ /***** Considering most Asian films that come out in Germany do not have English
subs, I was amazed when I picked this little gem up at E-Center. The DVD is really great, despite the ghosting effect that
is left from converting. It’s also cheap considering I got mine for 7 Euros.
